One of the "rules" I learned after working for about 5 months is that,
"do not be too kind to anyone because nobody is going to appreciate your efforts and they will surely take it for granted that it is your job to make it this way!"
Well,
not only colleagues,
but also clients.
You might probably think that you are doing a kind job for him/her,
and you are actually hoping that some day you gonna have something good in return by being kind.
In fact,
what's the real fact out there?
They have their role and position to get their jobs done,
and no one is going to care about whether this hurts you or will make you in a trouble,
never ever!
everyone is doing everything for themselves!

This is a cruel world that those who are capable live,
who's gonna care about what's what?!
